Three Countries Golf Challenge successful
They had barely finished dusting off their climbing gear following the successful completion of the National Three Peaks Challenge in June, when adventurers from Decorative Door Products, RegaLead and associated suppliers, customers and trade press broke out their golfing equipment, keen for the next challenge in aid of Help for Heroes. This came in early July, in the form of the Three Countries Golf Challenge.
Far from being the leisurely round of golf or two in the sunshine that some participants had hoped for, the challenge took place in just one day and saw the team travel from Manchester to Scotland, then Wales, finally travelling back to Manchester again – with the aim to arrive before closing time – to complete 54 holes of golf across the three countries.
The day began at 4.30am at Moffat Golf Club in Scotland, where participants had made their way from Manchester the night before. Old Padeswood Golf Club in Wales was the next port of call, finally finishing at Chorlton-cum-Hardy Golf Club, back in Manchester, where the challenge was to try and play the final round against the descending darkness.
Despite the unusually hot and sticky conditions thrown at the team by the Great British weather, everybody completed the challenge, and special mention must go to Promac’s Joe Hague and Edgetech’s Andy Jones who won the task with 135 points in 54 holes.
Guy Hubble, Joint Managing Director at RegaLead comments: “It was a fantastic day and we really appreciate the support shown, both from the players themselves, and everybody who was kind enough to donate. We’d particularly like to thank Moffat Golf Club, Old Padeswood Golf Club and Chorlton cum Hardy Golf Club for their hospitality.
“Help for Heroes was our nominated charity for this year and the £760 we saved by not sending Christmas Cards, along with the money raised from the National Three Peaks Challenge in June and now our Golf Challenge, means that very nearly £10,000 will go to the charity."
