The big Q-uestion - do you comply?
The amended Approved Document Q was published last week, detailing a requirement for all new build windows and doors to be security rated as of 1st October 2015. To comply, window and doorsets for use in new build dwellings must be successfully tested to PAS 24, with the acknowledgement that products with Secured by Design accreditation will also meet the criteria.
Under PAS 24, which is the main standard recognised by Secured by Design, glazed doors and windows which have a non-locking handle must have at least one leaf of glass which achieves a P1A classification under EN 356:200. Since September 2013, our laminated decorative glass units for doors have included a P1A laminate as standard, so if you buy from us, you already have it covered. If you don’t, can your supplier say the same?
